I have a date with my 5 year old son to see the Nutcracker next week. He’s at that age when he’s still open to new experiences like going to see a ballet, with his MOM, which is not exactly a “boy” type outing. When I told him the basic story of the Nutcracker, he said: “Sounds cool.”

There are many performances of the Nutcracker around town, but we’re going to see the Maple Youth Ballet at the Northwood Performing Arts Theater in Irvine. Shows are on December 18th-19th and Dec. 22nd and 23rd. For tickets and information, please visit www.mapleyconservatory.com

According to Mr. Charles Maple, choreographer and artistic directory of Maple Youth Ballet: “For a child there is no better introduction to the world of ballet than the Nutcracker. It’s colorful and accessible, with a child-centric story fueled by Tchaikovsky’s exquisite score.”
